Russell's story
One Child’s Journey Inspired a Mission for Families
Russell’s Resilience was inspired by Russell, the son of Founder and President Kayla Breaux.
Russell was born on December 2, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic and was diagnosed with ATR-X Syndrome, an extremely rare genetic disorder.
As Kayla and her family began navigating Russell’s diagnosis, they experienced firsthand how difficult it could be to find clear information, specialized resources, equipment, therapies, financial assistance, emotional support, and people who truly understood what their family was facing.
That experience revealed an important gap.
Families often need more than a list of resources. They need help understanding where to turn, how to connect with available support, and reassurance that they do not have to face the journey alone.
Russell’s strength and resilience became the inspiration for an organization created to help bridge that gap.
Today, Russell’s Resilience exists to support children with disabilities and their families through advocacy, guidance, resource connections, community support, partnerships, and meaningful opportunities designed to help families move forward with hope.
